Vanessa Ciofani
Oakville, ONHello! My name is Vanessa and I'm currently in my fourth year of university. I am the founder of the Youth Empowerment Sorting Hat Initiative. I have experience as an Assistant Mentor Team Leader, Elementary School Match Official Assignor, and Research Assistant.
The Youth Empowerment Sorting Hat Initiative
The Youth Empowerment Sorting Hat Initiative has a similar setup to the house sorting in Harry Potter and aims to enhance collaboration skills, diversity, and leadership development among students. By assigning individuals to different houses, it encourages them to appreciate their unique differences and see diversity positively. A point system will be enforced to encourage students to work together to earn points, strengthen communication skills and can be the start of many new friendships. Students will participate in five different interactive activities in an attempt to earn their team the most points.
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
The Youth Empowerment Sorting Hat Initiative will consist of five interactive activities: Educational trivia, solving riddles, athletics day, a wand-making competition, and a scavenger hunt. The project will begin on September 4th and finish in mid-November.
Project Impact
Promote leadership and collaboration development, while also having the potential to aid in the development of lasting friendships. These skills will contribute to their overall individual improvement as practicing these skills allows them to build confidence in their abilities and to translate the skills into professional and personal settings.
Project Mission
The Youth Empowerment Sorting Hat Initiative's (YESHI) mission is to visit schools from different districts and provide them with supplies that are necessary for coordinating YESHI. Additionally, it will include five different and unique interactive sessions among the students in the classroom over the course of a term.
